Connecting Women Accountants across the Globe

About Us

International Federation of Women Accountants (IFWA) is a non-political and not-for-profit organization. The International Federation of Women Accountants (IFWA) is the brain child of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN). The African Region was inaugurated in January 1995 at NICON NOGA Hotel, Abuja while the global platform was in Paris during the 15th World Congress of Accountants in 1997. It is an umbrella Body that derives its membership from the national Women Accountants Associations/Societies across the globe. The Inaugural members were Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, Kenya and Sierra Leone.

The objectives of IFWA are:

  • To support establishment of National Associations/Societies of Women Accountants
  • Advocacy on cross-cutting social, political & economic issues
  • Provide a platform for knowledge and experience sharing
  • To promote and support all activities of the International Federation of Accountants; (IFAC).

Since its inception, IFWA has held conferences and meetings in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, and Sierra Leone.
